Several hours later we will start to celebrate World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and the New Year.
The foundation of Day of solidarity of Azerbaijanians of the world was laid in December, 1989 in Nakhichevan, during the destruction of frontiers between the former USSR and Iran. At this time in the Istanbul took place a conference of the Turkish-speaking people. During the conference was made the decision to celebrate annually solidarity of Azerbaijanians of the world. After 1989 in the life of Azerbaijanians happened many changes, most important from which is the gaining of the independence of Azerbaijan. Today, the Azerbaijanians living around the world fairly are proud of independent Azerbaijan. Independence which we gained 24 years ago is the greatest happiness for us.
In June in Azerbaijan took place the first European games. The Azerbaijani team won 56 medals and became second in a team competition. During grandiosely organized competitions the whole world was acquainted with rich and amazing culture of Azerbaijan. The gained achievements during the independence allow us to look to future with optimism.
